So he was recently in an accident, wont go into detials but we went to see the vet and there were specific instructions to not wash him.
He went out to do his dirty work and came back with poo glued to his butt when I tried to go near him to clean it he started yelping like crazy so I left it
Then yesterday I noticed he was less sore and decided after his walk to clean him up with scissors and so when he came back he **** again and got it all over and now a part came off.
When I so much as touch just the hairs that are sligthly pooped he yelps like crazy and I cant work with him like that.
I dont wanna waste my time at the vet, just wanna put him in a light state where he wont feel me cutting his hairs off and cleaning his butt.
Suggestions?
He's not allowed to have a bath because of internal bleeding from a car accident.
Is there anything over the counter that I can give to my dog to put him into temporary sleep so i can clean...
I agree with natali. Sedatives may help but are risky at the best of times and more so if the dog has or risks internal bleeding.
Why not try treat distraction.
If his appetite is good, get someone to hold sausage treats in front of his mounth which may distract him enough for you to get to work with the scissors.

NO...you maybe can get a sedative from the vet. But anything you give on your own can damage your dogs organs especially with internal bleeding!!

First off, salty is a moron, do NOT shoot your dog.
Second, I wouldn't risk anything, and going to the vets about it is NOT a waste of time, you need help with your dog.
By yelping when you touch it obviously means he is in pain, so don't do it.... And if you do, ignoring the vets warnings about bathing or whatever, it could severely damage your dog .. How would you feel then..
I'd say ring your vet and ask for advice, or take him and maybe your vet can do something about this. Don't do anything if you are unsure.
Good luck and I hope your dog gets better soon

I know my friend gives her dog half of a children's benedryll when they travel this way the dog will sleep in the car... her dog is only about 10 lbs though... if your dog is large maybe give him a little more then half of the tablet... good luck! i hope your dog recovers!

How well behaved is the dog? Do you soothe your dog in any way? For instance my Springer loves to get his ears rubbed, in a matter of minutes he is so relaxed I can brush him with no problems. You don't want to approach your dog with him knowing what you want to do. I put the brush in my back pocket and approach my dog only when he is already in a calm state. If you can soothe your dog then you shouldn't need sedatives, if you can't then call the Vet. Some people have used Camomile tea to relax a dog prior to bathing their dog, you might want to look into that method.
PS sorry to hear about the accident I hope all goes well.

They do sell a sedative type thing at Pet-co, it won't put them to sleep though. Just relax them.
Not judging, why do you cut his bum hairs? I have a Samoyed and put warm, soapy water in a spray bottle, spray his butt and then wipe it gently. You might want to try that in the future.
P.S. wise cracking woman you are not funny. Get a job.
