Dogs in the house?

Do you think its good or bad when people have a dog (or dogs) living in their houses, what with all the cute shedding of hair and accumulation of dog grease and smells etc (which they probably can't smell because they are used to it, yet other people take one whiff when the door opens and think 'dude!' and spend all their time trying to avoid getting hairs all over themselves)?

Dogs in the house?

I don't think animals are meant to live indoors with humans.

Like you said, usually those who have dogs living in the house with them don't notice the smell from their beloved pets but outsiders do. There's nothing worse than visiting someone who has a shedding animal only to find you're taking half their pet home with you on your skirt.

I know sometimes they are good companions for some (especially lonely people) but they're really meant to live outdoors

JMHO

Dogs in the house?

Really?

Well, grrrr woof woof wag woof purrr(oops) %26gt;.%26lt;

ok? Report It

Dogs in the house?

not all dogs smell

I have aSiberian Husky, she doesnt smell and she lives indoors

The house smelling of dog is usually down to the filthy owner

all it takes is a few open windows and problem sorted!

I am 100% sure my house doesnt smell

The Siberian Husky doesnt NOT have the usual doggy smell

Dogs in the house?

Its better than leaving the dog out in the freezing cold or blistering heat!

A house with a dog only smells if they don't clean it properly. The house, not the dog. The dog itself should be trained properly to avoid "accidents," chewing, etc.

Dogs in the house?

I have 3 dogs that all live inside full-time and I know for a fact my house does not smell. Dogs do not smell unless the owner does not bath them monthly and groom them enough. Also, if you brush the dog every other day then the shedding is not bad. I vaccum weekly and brush my dogs every other day and do not have much dog hair in my house. A dog comes with responsibilities and part of it is grooming/bathing them. What is the point of having a pet if it must live outside full time? Also, that isn't very nice to the dog.

Dogs in the house?

It is good when people have dogs in their house especially small dogs you can snuggle with them

Dogs in the house?

my dog lives in the house and yes he does smell but c'est la vie

Dogs in the house?

if you dont like dogs, then just dont come to my house. simple as. and its a good thing to have dogs in the house. its cruel to keep them outside.

Dogs in the house?

This isn't a question, it's a rant...you don't have to like dogs in your house, but have respect for the millions of people who do.

Some dogs actually smell better and have better hygiene than some people.

Dogs in the house?

I love house dogs. : D

Dogs in the house?

you are so disgusting you should not own animals fullSTOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

Dogs in the house?

I don't have dogs but I do have cats and I am CRAZY clean you can not tell I have 5 indoor cats cause I am allllwayyysss cleaning there box and vacuuming.Nobody even knows I have cats when they come over

Only if a person is unclean can you smell an animal in the house.I know lots of people with in door animals I cant smell anything..also I shed more then my cats do..my hair is everywhere

Dogs in the house?

I have an american pitbull terrier he is an inside dog. usually its not the dogs fault, sometimes they arent fully potty trained. I have a carpet cleaner for that. people who never let there dogs outside now thats sick! Also for the dog smell, when you take good care of you dog they dont stink. I vacum my apt everyday! you know not everyones dirty, and not all dogs stink..

Dogs in the house?

It depends on the owner and the dog, my dog goes twice a year to get clipped, shampooed and groomed, she don't leave hairs anywhere, I also bath her. When she goes out to wee if it's wet I stand and she lifts her paws for me to wipe clean. I wash her bowl out every second day and I can tell you my house does not smell of dog, I know cause people have said how come it don't smell of dog, I'd soon be told if it did smell. I have been into house's and yes I can smell if they have a smelly dog.

Dogs in the house?

I used to rent a house where one of the others ( bit of a dictator) brought her dog into the house without asking any of us fist incl landlord. The dog went to the bathroom ( to put it a nice way) all over the house. The house smelled rotten. The landlord put his foot down and told her to get rid.

Months later and the smell has finally gone !

Dogs in the house?

That is up to the person if they don't want a spec of hair or dust on them and love the clean smell. I remember when I was little going to my aunts house and my aunts husband would be a total slob and throw food on the floor. The house would smell like dirty dog, cigars, and sweat. Oh my. See this is what some people don't get, they think if you buy a dog and let it into your house its going to smell so bad and destroy the house well people who are hard workers and actually CLEAN their house good the house does not have to smell bad. Theres having a dog and being clean and then theres having a dog and being a slob. Results will differ. But good question.

Dogs in the house?

The only time it stinks is when an irresponsible owner does not take the time to properly potty train their dog and clean up the messes. My friend has two pits that leave very LARGE messes in the house she never cleans up very well. The entire place reeks like urine, strong enough to make you gag. EEEWWW

My parents on the other hand have two very well behaved older dogs and you can't smell an oder at all. That's because they do their duty outside where they are supposed to!

Dogs in the house?

Hiya, I see where you're coming from but I think that if the dog owner has good housekeeping then the house need'nt smell or be covered in hair, I could'nt be without my pets, and would have there company long before some people I know... having said that.... some people do seem to 'live in kennels', thats bad news, and unhealthy. good Q though x

Dogs in the house?

Get a poodle, they don't shed their coats. And your avatar suggests that you are a smoker. If so, i don't think you have any room to talk about smells in the house. Each to his own though.

Everything else has already been said. Btw, i don't have a dog, but if i did, it would be laying on the floor next to me as i type this. :-)

Dogs in the house?

Dogs do smell as all things do but if you are used to it no problem. You can open windows spray air freshener and bath the dog and try all other things to reduce it but .............. yes dogs do smell..

Dogs in the house?

My dogs are like family dude so why would I shut them out of the house in the cold and wet?

If you clean your houses regularly then they don't smell of dog you just need to keep on top of it dunno what you mean about dog grease not got any in my house. My dogs are bathed twice a month and our house is clean and neat. If anyone didn't want to get dog hair all over them when there in my house then they aren't welcome in my home it's love me love my dogs I'm afraid and the dogs come 1st.

Also all my dogs are house trained and spend allot of time out of the house with me at the farm where they reek havoc untill they crash out at home in there bed. Mine are short coated well groomed and dont malt allot at all.

I haven't had anyone complain that my house smells or looks untidy. They are more occupied by the bull terrier sat on their lap Lol!!

Dogs in the house?

Ummmm.... that is why my dog gets groomed often AND I sweep every single day anyhow. In fact, everyone that comes over tells me that my dog smells quite good, thank you very much. Now.... what about cats? Tell us how you REALLY feel.... lol

Dogs in the house?

Do I think WHAT exactly is good or bad?

I think 'each to their own'.

I have four dogs, and whilst I guess non-dog owners probably smell 'something' when they enter my house, I can ASSURE you they are groomed regularly, so hardly shed, and my house is VERY clean, so there is NO 'accumulation of grease'.

I did one have a double glazing guy come to give me a quote, and when I opened the door he eyed the dogs and said 'I don't much like dogs', in a disgusted sort of tone, and I said 'I'm sorry, I think you got the wrong door'....and shut it one him!

Dogs in the house?

Honestly, it depends on the owner's wishes and health issues, and on their managment of these issues.

We have 2 dogs, one is outside the other in. The inside dog sheds, rarely. She is potty trained and rather clean. The other one is too wild for us to keep inside, so she lives outside in her own little house.

Also some breeds Don't shed.

Dogs in the house?

i have always owned dogs and cats until recently. they had snug kennels outside and were always healthy and lived way past their expected lifespan for their breed. the dogs were excercised regularly and washed and groomed. they lived happily ALONGSIDE me not WITH me.

central heating creates problems for animals.

Dogs in the house?

I have eight dogs in my house. I keep up with the hair, and dust. I freshen up daily with Febreze and opening windows.

My real friends love my dogs and arrive dressed in dog friendly clothes. If getting hair on clothes is such a big deal then I rather think that it is safer to stay in the garden!!!! LOL!

I dont complain about the sterile environment my non animal friends make me endure so live and let I say!

Dogs in the house?

i have 4 medium size dogs and they all live in the house with me i don't care what people think or do it is my choice to keep them in so if people don't like it they don't have to come around plus i take them to a doggy parlour once a month and i wash them regular as well especially if they have been out in the field or woods

Dogs in the house?

Simple. You have to bathe the dog regularly. And brush his coat too.Give the furniture a going over with a vacuum cleaner.A friend of mine has a Great Pyrenees mountain dog.Very big, very hairy, prone to shedding hair and drools quite a bit.I can assure you that house does not smell bad!It works for them, chances are it will work for you.

Dogs in the house?

I my pay my mortgage, not my visitors. If anyone has a problem with animal hairs, if they think my house smells of animals or they don't like the animals sitting next to them or climbing on them, they don't have to come in to MY home. Why should I change my way of living to suit others.

I think it's rude when people criticise the way other people live.

Dogs in the house?

Well, some dogs smell more and some smell less. As you said, owners usually are so used to it, they don't know if their dogs smell.

My dogs are inside part-time. I'm willing to put up with the hair, etc. that goes along with it. Anyone who isn't comfortable with it doesn't have to visit me at my home. We can visit elsewhere. But it's not their right to tell me if and when I may allow my dogs in my home. And, if they don't like it, then they shouldn't try to buy my home if I sell it.

BTW: anyone who allows their dogs to pee in the house or trains them to pee inside on pee pads is gross, in my book!

Life in my house has hair and dust that goes along with it. This is a farm. It's my choice. You don't have to live here.

As you believe that dogs should not be in the home, some people believe dogs should NEVER live outside the home and they consider you keeping your dog outside full time to be cruel and abusive treatment.

I think we each need to do what we feel is right for us and our own family.

So ... the only things I consider really bad are:

1) training your dog to pee in the house on peepads rather than outside

2) keeping a REALLY BAD smelling dog inside all day

3) keeping any dog inside ALL day and night

4) keeping a dog outside ALL day and night with inadequate housing and/or water in bad living conditions

I can't think of any others at the moment.

Dogs in the house?

our choice, the Dyson hoover is great there are worse smells than dog

Dogs in the house?

you've said it all my friend. i have nothing else to add!
