I have a 12 year old lhasa. She pulls her hair out and sweats constantly.?

She has a sweaty smell. We feed her rice/corn dog food. She is always warm. Her hearing is poor and eye sight. Any helpful suggestions? Maybe food or over the counter medicines ?

Get rid of the corn. Corn is the most common skin problem in dogs.

Wheat also causes excess heat in warm weather.

this is a very good supplement for skin and condition. I gave some to my friend for his aging dog, and it really rejuvenated her.

I saw on their site they have a fromula for old dogs.. it is new, so I haven't tried it...They ship very fast, and prices are fair.

Go to the vet, she needs blood work done. Have them check her Thyroid and her Cortisol levels. She may have developed Cushings Disease (the hair loss and oilyness are signs).

Well first of all dogs do not sweat. They can not physically do it since they lack sweat glands, that is why they pant.

Its the summertime and where is your dog spending time at? Is she outdoors a lot? Do you have air conditioning in the house? These things affect dogs as well.

Rice and corn is not a great diet, there are several diets that would be better for her. Science Diet Senior is good, Iams senior, and many others. Make sure though to put her on a diet for senior dogs because they have more nutrients that she needs as an older dog.

If in doubt talk to your vet about the proper diet. You may also want your vet to do a skin scraping to see if she has any mites or skin parasites that would make her itchy. Your vet can then give you suggestions.

I hope this helps and best of luck!!!

I believe that the vet tech that I see told me that sweating under their legs and pulling the hair out is a sign of mange. I would talk to the vet.

I would take it to the vet. it might have a food allergy or a skin condion.
