I have a 10 week old pug puppy "Honey", I just recently moved in with my father and he has a golden retriever that sheds everywhere. I am curious to know if it's okay for my pug to be around this dog considering the amount of hair that this dog sheds. I don't want to have to keep her confined to my room
Is it okay for a pug to live in the same house as a golden retriever?
I think it should be okay. Golden Retrivers are naturally friendly with other dogs. I have a 2yr old Golden myself and he's always playing around with my toy poodle. Be careful though, Goldens can get very excited and play too hard. So when you have the dogs together just supervise to make sure they're playing dosen't get too rough to hurt the puppy. Don't worry about the shedding thing. It won't hurt your puppy.

course it is, as long as the two dogs get on and are okay around each other they should be fine.

Don't worry when your pug gets older she'll be out shedding the retriver (pugs shed the worse, I had one...) As long as the retiver is gental with the pug and your not allowing them to breed you should have no problems. If the hair concers you, try to vacuum more often of take the retriver outside for a good daily brushing! Good luck!

Hee Hee! Just wait till your Pug gets it's adult coat (at around a year old)...one of the things Pug owners say is they 'shed like buffaloes'.
But, seriously, what does the shedding have to do with them being in the same house? Are you afraid you may lose the Pug under a pile of hair? Vacuum more often!
My Boxer lived with two small dogs before I got him at 11 months old (a Toy Manchester Terrier %26amp; an under 12 pound Boston Terrier) and they got along great - he even played 'tug-of-war' where he would lay down %26amp; push himself across the floor with his hind legs so they thought they were pulling him. So cute!

almost any dogs can live together. it is easiest if one is female and the other male. i have a weinner dog and a German police that live in the same house with a cat. the German police is 8 and great in temperament. the weinner is grumpy and beats up on him. of course one bite from the German police would be the end of the weinner. but because of temperament this is not a problem for them. two males on the other hand with dominate attitudes is another problem all together. my advice to you is to make sure both animals are fixed. then watch closely before leaving them alone together. 80% of most golden retrievers are easy go luck. most pugs are not. my op ion. but if fixed that really helps.

They'll be fine. It's funny to see dogs that look so opposite from each other to be best buddies. A friend of mine had a Newfie %26amp; a Shih Tzu. They got along great but when the Newfie had enough playing he would put a big giant paw on the Shih Tzu %26amp; pin him down so he couldn't move but gentle enough not to hurt the little guy.
