How do I make my pit bull's hair thicker, shinier and glossy looking?

I have 2 pit bulls. Both are on a special, all natural dog food recommended by vet for allergies. (one has sensitive skin) so please do not suggest any new foods or any products that could irritate sensitive skin (You can recommend items to put on their coats or wash them with if they won't irritate skin, or have a low probability of doing so). I would like to know how I can make their coat softer, shinier, and thicker. Thanks!

Instead of *just* taking your vets word I suggest researching proper nutrition. Compare the ingredients of what you are feeding to some of the better quality more balanced foods available. Unfortunately, most vets are required to take minimal training on nutrition. Most vets simply suggest what they are *sold* by sales reps. Your dogs coat health and condition is mainly dependent on its diet and a strong immune system-which is also diet dependent. Good luck!

Good food, I feed Pro-Plan or Science Diet, along with a raw egg and oatmeal, the raw egg is the key for the shinny coat, protein in the food for the coat, always look for dog food that has a first ingredient of chicken or beef, not chicken meal or beef meal thats like feeding your dog cardboard.

You can try veggie oil in the food (if it won't affect their allergies) or get a high quality bath oil spray that you can use after baths or you can dampen their coat in between baths and apply. That will make it softer and shiner, not sure how to thinken the coat. Good luck!

you seem so adversive to the most probable cause. The food. Diet is the number one reason coats aren't shiny and glossy/healthy - it's because the food isn't good. Just because they are on a special diet recommended by your vet doesn't mean that your vet recommended a good food.

Would you mind stating the food type recommended so we can give you the best advice for your question?%26gt;

Get some Omega 3 and Omega 6 Fish oil tabs..........drug store sells them and they are inexpensive. Great for the coat and dry skin.

Take a couple a day yourself and your hair will be shiny.
