Can I get out of my lease?

* Each tenant in our 4 bdrm house has a separate lease.

* On each lease, it says NO PETS

*Roomate brought a dog into our house, obviously against lease terms.

Three girls are pretty clean, the one with the dog is not. Nobody is EVER home so we have to leave NOTES to each other, and two girls are always the ones buying things for the "household" (cleaning supplies, etc.) Same two girls even bought couch covers, to help protect the couches, and to keep the unwanted dog hair off of them. Dog hair just gets all over the house. Constant cleaning! I did NOT sign up for this.

Yes I knew there would be multiple people living in one house, but I was under the assumption they would be CLEAN, because our landlord said he would do a thorough screening of each person before he let them live in the house.

My question is, can I get out of the lease because of the dog situation, and the constant cleaning, and being one of the only people who really care about how clean/healthy our house is?

Can I get out of my lease?

IF the lease states no pets, you can talk to the landlord about the individual with the dog, which will most likely result in either the person being evicted or the dog being forced out of the home. This will cause even more resentment within the home. If you use this as a reason to break your lease, it will most likely face the same situation, the person with the dog will be effect and most likely you will still be stuck in your lease.

Can I get out of my lease?

You can only ask. Keep it non-whining and business like.

Can I get out of my lease?

Is the landlord allowing the dog to be there despite the lease terms prohibiting dogs? If so, you can try to get out of your lease by arguing that the landlord is depriving you of "quiet enjoyment" of your rented property in violation of your agreement.

Can I get out of my lease?

Tell the Landlord either he evicts the dog owner or ou will not pa your rent. He has rights and you do too.

Can I get out of my lease?

No, but you can get either the roommate with dog booted out or just the dog, both of which will remedy the cleaning issues with dog hair. Just speak up to your landlord.

What kind of shampoo should I use to keep my maltese dog hair bright white?

very white, and what should I use for eyes boogers?

What kind of shampoo should I use to keep my maltese dog hair bright white?

When you do buy the dog shampoo, make sure it is either white or blue. Even better, get shampoo that specifies it is for white coats. Otherwise, your dog's fur will end up tinted whatever color the shampoo was, no matter how much you rinse. You're dog's fur could end up looking like an old lady's hair (all purpled tinted or something).

Here's what I use on my papillon to keep her white and bright:

http://www.petsmart.com/global/product_d...

(This is just what I happened to pick up at the store. There are many other "white-coat" shampoos, most of them work equally well, but do make sure it is specifically for white dogs, those will give you the best results.)

For eye boogers, I would recommend giving your dog spring water instead of tap water. This cuts down on tearing a lot. Use a wet wash cloth to clean off existing tears. If water alone doesn't work, you can buy products that are specifically to clean tears and eye goobers. Here is a helpful section on maltese tearing: http://www.bhejei.com/tearsta.htm

What kind of shampoo should I use to keep my maltese dog hair bright white?

There is a type of horse shampoo that brings out white... not sure if they have the same things for dogs, lol! Ask your groomer, he or she will definitely know. And for the eye boogs, I just use a damp cloth to wipe them out. For stains though, again, ask your groomer... Don't use bleach, that could be harmful, but I'm sure there is some sort of diluted solution out there somewhere. Good luck!

What kind of shampoo should I use to keep my maltese dog hair bright white?

i use j%26amp;j baby shampoo,works great

What kind of shampoo should I use to keep my maltese dog hair bright white?

We used some stuff called sno glo,got it at pet smart, works great, eye boogs, scissors and patience. Keep the hair around the eyes trimmed often, that should keep them from building up.

What kind of shampoo should I use to keep my maltese dog hair bright white?

You might consider some pet products that are free of harsh chemicals. Life's Abundance offers some good ones. http://www.healthypetnet.com/HealthyPetN... Sorry the link is so long, that is the direct link to the dog care products.

What kind of shampoo should I use to keep my maltese dog hair bright white?

There's a shampoo called Perfect White, it works really well.

For the eye **** try the eye swabs listed in the bottom link.

Hope this helped!

What kind of shampoo should I use to keep my maltese dog hair bright white?

SNOWY COAT i should know because i go to animal management at northwest career center and we groom and do other things with animals. i think u should pick mine 4 best answer i iam right. and for the eyes tearless shampoo.

Try Chris Christensen's White on White--do an online search, the company has it's own website.

I am looking for the best vacuum cleaner for picking up dog hair but can also be used on wood and ti

I have an Oreck vacuum cleaner and it works well picking up cat hair on my carpets and laminate in the kitchen. It can also be used on wood and tile floors without scratching the floor. They are lightweight, also, with a strong motor.

I am looking for the best vacuum cleaner for picking up dog hair but can also be used on wood and tile floors?

swiffer vac.

The Dyson Animal. Pricey, but worth it.

I am looking for the best vacuum cleaner for picking up dog hair but can also be used on wood and tile floors?

I couldn't live without my Rainbow! Best I have ever used on carpets and wood floors and linoleum floors and tile floors, especially with dog and cat fur...very expensive but worth every penny...but even better on wood and tile floors is a dry head Swiffer Mop! I love mine terribly!!

I am looking for the best vacuum cleaner for picking up dog hair but can also be used on wood and tile floors?

Hello Donna, I have to say I find the Dyson one of the best hoovers I have ever had, I live in Spain and in most houses and flat楹搒 there is only tiled flooring a wood floors, %26amp; a lot of rugs so they are very good for everything , dust pet hair楹搒 My daughter borrowed my hoover ,she has a dog and she could楹搕 believe how good it was they even used it to clean the car , and went out the same day and bought one, I have to say I found it a bit hard to use when I first got it , but now would楹搕 be without it so I would suggest a Dyson

I am looking for the best vacuum cleaner for picking up dog hair but can also be used on wood and tile floors?

Try the wet and dry vac.

I am looking for the best vacuum cleaner for picking up dog hair but can also be used on wood and tile floors?

A commercial vacuum is the best to buy. You will have to find a store that sells them. Not a department store. They will cost about 200.00 to 250.00 but are worth every penny. Buy a bagless that is easily emptied and you don't have to buy bags all the time. As far as a name brand let the store help you with that.

Good Luck.

I am looking for the best vacuum cleaner for picking up dog hair but can also be used on wood and tile floors?

Vacuum cleaners are not good for wood and tile floors, since the beater bar can damage the floor. There is a cordless rechargeable vacuum made by shark that works well for picking up dog hair on all floor surfaces. The beater bar does not turn as quickly as an electric vacuum so it does not damage the flooring.

I am looking for the best vacuum cleaner for picking up dog hair but can also be used on wood and tile floors?

The Roomba (a robotic vacuum) is a great choice for people with pets...and has the bonus of turning it on and letting it go...while you're at work, etc. Like any good vacuum cleaner, it's pricey, but no bags to buy, and no heavy thing to lug around!

Kirby vaccuum

I am looking for the best vacuum cleaner for picking up dog hair but can also be used on wood and tile floors?

Dyson makes the dc17 animal which is great for pet hair. It is also designed for easy transition from carpets to hard floor. Won't damage wood or tile floors. There's a full write up at http://vacuum-better.com/dyson-dc17-revi...

Do you know any website's where I can find dog hair dye?

Ebay, of course. But I've heard that dyeing your dog is best left to the professionals and really only works if your dog is already a light color, i.e white or tan. Perhaps you should consult a local groomer.

Oh, there's a dye called Vivid Colors by a company called PetEsthe, but I'm not sure how available their products are in the U.S.

Do you know any website's where I can find dog hair dye?

okay first of all tell me why you want to dye the dog?!?! and then ill give you an answer!!!

Do you know any website's where I can find dog hair dye?

The only safe hair color for pets is food coloring. It washes off and wears off. The others are dangerous to their SKIN.

Do you know any website's where I can find dog hair dye?

why are you going to dye your dogs hair? He'll die of embaressment!!!!

Do you know any website's where I can find dog hair dye?

Don't dye your dog. It is cruel.... PETA came down hard on Kelly Osbourne for dying her bulldog bright pink.

Do you know any website's where I can find dog hair dye?

Use easter egg colors - they are food safe, which would be better than a chemical dye. I've a friend who dyes their white cat at easter with them... The cat is patient and doesn't move around, so if I were you, I'd consider doing it outside with a dog to at least protect your household surfaces.

What is the absolute best vacuum cleaner to pick up dog hair?

I have dark red carpet, ceramic tile and hardwood floor in my home. I use swiffer when I can, but every vacuum I get is worn out and starts to clog up and smell within a few months. Granted, I've bought the Bissels, Hoovers and Dirt Devils, but I need something that works but isn't the cost of a small car!

What is the absolute best vacuum cleaner to pick up dog hair?

I have an electrolux sweeper and it is the very best. Check your local home supply store for one. They are not as expensive as you would think.

What is the absolute best vacuum cleaner to pick up dog hair?

Try to find a carpet rake - it looks like a giant plastic comb on a mop handle - and rake the hair off the carpet before vacuuming. I think I paid less than 10.00 for mine, but I can't remember where I bought it. It works great - I have four cats and five dogs, who all shed like crazy, and I don't know what I would do if I didn't have this thing.

Can you recommend a handheld vacuum (dustbuster-like) for getting dog hair off of my microsuede couc

The best thing that I've used is a lint brush. Works great and it picks up ever bit of dog hair. Good luck

Can you recommend a handheld vacuum (dustbuster-like) for getting dog hair off of my microsuede couch?

JUST WRAP YOUR HAND IN SCOTCH TAPE STICKY SIDE OUT. FAST AND EASY

Can you recommend a handheld vacuum (dustbuster-like) for getting dog hair off of my microsuede couch?

I can recommend duck tape and hold a piece about 12" and blot up hairs

Can you recommend a handheld vacuum (dustbuster-like) for getting dog hair off of my microsuede couch?

Dampen a sponge or even your hand and the hair will just roll up.

Was this rude?

I was supposed to go over to the home of a friend from church for dinner. But when I talked to her this morning on the phone, she asked me if I could do one favor for her: "Could you brush off all that dog hair off of you?" To me, it was very rude of her to say that. I have 4 dogs, including one with long white hair that does shed. But I do have a lint brush that I use before I go out, and I do my best to brush off any dog hair; however both the brush and I aren't perfect and therefore unable to remove EVERY single strand of hair. I don't go out with a grotesque amount of hair on me, but yes there are still a few. I backed out of going to the dinner after she made that comment to me. Am I crazy, or was she incredibly rude?

Was this rude?

rude but a lot of people are not pet people so to another non-pet lover, they would not think rude; if that is the importance level, it tells you something; I would rather eat alone at home with my dogs then be a guest at a table with people who are full of themselves; that is why a dog is unconditional love! you have 4 enjoy them and that says a lot about you; she is missing out on your company - tough for her ; don't let ignorant people ruin your spirit!!

Was this rude?

I don't understand why some people can't stand to hear the straight up truth.

You could be thankful that you have a friend that will tell you how it is, and keep it real with you. Report It

Was this rude?

Well, maybe she was concerned with hygiene or allergies

Was this rude?

Wearing your dog's fur is not such a good idea. Since you have all of those dogs, you should make an effort to "de-fur" yourself. Maybe your friend is allergic to the fur (I am); perhaps she doesn't want it on her furniture, in her house, etc.

Was this rude?

It was rude, IF that is all she said. She might possibly be allergic, or maybe some of her family members are. She probably asked you to because of that.... Or she could just be a *****. Who knows

Was this rude?

Sounds like a serious B*TCH if you ask me.

Was this rude?

I think she could have posed her question differently; perhaps in a more sensitive manner.

That being said, she may have a legitimate reason for asking, say a child with severe allergies.

If you're good enough friends to have dinner together, you should explain to her that your feelings were hurt and give her a chance to explain her comments.

Was this rude?

it depends if she is allergic to dogs. that is something reasonable to say if you are allergic to dogs. if not then that was sort of rude. especially if she has dogs of her own.

Was this rude?

I agree with you!!! There is a lot nicer ways to say to that a "friend". and if she thought you were always covered with dog hair, then she did not have to invite you in the first place. That was just beyotchy.

Was this rude?

I think she was very rude and should not have spoken to you in that way. Get a better friend, you don't need friends like that

Was this rude?

Sorry I would have said the same thing. She is just being a friend and tryen to help you out.

Was this rude?

R.U.D.E.

Was this rude?

Yes that wus very rude of her! and if i were u i would have done the same and backed out as well.

Was this rude?

I don't think it was the most tactful thing to say but I don't think it was rude.

If it was an issue for her and you two are good enough friends I think it was good for her to bring it to your attention rather than avoiding you or cancelling plans as a result.

I think you should let her know that your feelings were hurt and reschedule your dinner plans.

Was this rude?

She was not rude she told you what was on her mind at least she was honest I rather some one tell me the truth then laugh and

smile in my face and lie. sounds like a friend to me

Was this rude?

She is not a pet owner I would think ( I am )

I could care less if you came over with a sweater made of dog fur

Having said that, I am sure when you leave her place bits of fur do get left behind ( booo hooo ).

Personally, I am just happy that people I invite over are gracious enough to accept and show up.

Was this rude?

she was very rude and you were right not to go after that comment....she made it sound like you were a piece of trash...how mean is that?

Was this rude?

yea sounded a little rude to me too.

Was this rude?

There are dog people, and there are not dog people. I have two long haired dogs, and a cat. I keep a lint brush on my deck, so when I try to remove hair, I am in contact with no new hairs waiting to latch on.. no matter how many times I go over myself, there is always still a few hairs. I would have done the same thing that you did. My motto is "Love Me, Love My Pets". And yes, I think she was extremely rude.

Was this rude?

SHE IS SO rude!!but try to talk to her nicely -.-"

Was this rude?

Yes, she was very rude. Has she recently had a stroke?

Was this rude?

That was rude of her to say that, but you shouldn't of backed

away. You should of came early and corrected her. You should

of said, "You know I do try hard to get all this hair off,and you

should know that everyone and everything is not perfect." "I'm

am not a slob." "You are very rude, you need to be grateful I am even hear or speaking to you!!"

Was this rude?

Well I don't think you are crazy, just a bit too sensitive about this. What got to you the most? Was it her voice? Her tone? Her choice of words? I don't think it was rude of her to ask, but it sounds as though she might have been having a problem as to just how she was going to ask you to do something in a way that would not offend you, yet she felt that she couldn't just explain herself in a way that was honest, sincere, %26amp; NOT rude. Perhaps her real issue lies in her distaste of dirt in her home %26amp; health issues from the pet hair. Many people who have never had indoor pets don't know how to deal with hair that could carry flea eggs %26amp; germs with them %26amp; since the mere thought of even touching these "germy" hairs can make some people panic %26amp; vomit, it would seem valid to them, yet not to the pet owner/guest! I think that you just MAY be turning a molehill into a mountain. This woman DID invite you, so she must enjoy your company. I hope you at least called her to cancel %26amp; didn't retalliate by just being a "no-show" for the dinner. Perhaps you could ASK her about the left over dog hairs on your last visit, as you just may have left MORE than you realize, or she could just have problems with "phobias". Perhaps she once had a beloved pet %26amp; the hairs make her sad because she remembers her companion that is no longer with her. If you aren't willing to go the extra mile, then you should just "let-it-go" before you end up running from everything %26amp; everyone in your life. If you go to Church, then I assume that you are familiar with a little thing called "prayer"? Those pet hairs can make or break your day if you let them!

Was this rude?

Well you said she was your friend! The old saying"Better to hear it from a friend than a stranger." I don't understand her asking you over to her house if it bothered her that much? Think about that!

Was this rude?

I agree completely with John. She likes you enough to ask you over again EVEN THOUGH she (or someone who is advising her or badmouthing you to her) has a problem with the hair. She may be trying to stick up for you to someone, and hopes you'll arrive fuzz-free to make it easier for her to defend you. You never know for sure.

I say you give her the benefit of the doubt, and talk to her about it. And try to be gentle, so you don't start up an argument! Good luck!

Was this rude?

If you indeed don't have more than a few hairs on you, then yes she's either phobic or rude. It is possible she has a friend/family member with allergies who comes over frequently (even if she isn't allergic, I'm sure you don't know all of her other friends %26amp; neighbors) but if that's the case, why didn't she just said so??? People who have pets sometimes have a few hairs on 'm, no big deal.

Was this rude?

If you went over there before, you probably had dog hair on you last time which got on her furniture. My husband has a cousin who every time he comes over has mud all over his feet and won't take his shoes off. I have never asked him to, but I really have wanted to. It probably was a little rude, but she probably really likes you and wants to be around you, but the hair might be a little overwhelming for her. Maybe it was her way to tell you that you have a hair problem (for your own good.).

How can you live in hair filth anyway? That is discusting to have 4 dogs in a house! Gross, if you want that many animals, you might try living in the country so they don't have to be inside with you!

What's The Best Song To Listen To When You Are Really Pumped Up And Angry?

EDITED (grammar and I added a few things)

Hey Darth, I'm sorry. And I'll virtually punch Smiley whenever you need me to. :)

I know what went down from people other then Ozz, and it pissed me off. I know you're having a hard time.

You were unfairly thrown in the middle of conflict and it isn't right. I know that Smiley didn't post that question to 'warn' people, he posted it to piss you off, and start more conflict, and guess what? It worked. That was wrong of him to do, and he knows it. It got sooo many people wound up with it. Look at me for example: I had nothing to do with it, and here I am being pissed about it. The situation involved only a few people, and its should not have been made public like that. It just made things worse.

I don't mind that Smiley had his own opinion, but he should have kept it to himself. He started so much conflict and got so many people wound-up by posting that. It was rude and immature.

Smiley a grown man. Even if someone did do something to piss him off, it didn't justify what he did. Adults shouldn't act that way. He's immature for that, so he needs to stop telling Ozz to grow up, Ozzy is 15, he's the one who needs to grow up. He shouldn't even be starting conflict with a 15 year old. That's pathetic.

From the outside looking in, I can automatically see where Smiley is in the wrong. I'm looking neutrally, not just at the fact that you're my favorite contact on Y!A. What he did was very wrong.

I can tell that earlier you tried brushing it off. You're taking this very well and you're handling it very well.

I'd be angry too if I was in your position. Shoot, earlier this day I was angry for you. But I think we just need to wait this one out, eventually things will calm down.

So I hope all goes well for you.

As for songs... I think Pantera, Devildriver, Lamb of God, some KoRn, I know you don't like this band, but Break Stuff by Limp Bizkit is a good one. Or Right Now by KoRn.

You just helped the other guy win. He got you. He got you to feel exactly the way he/she wanted. There is a great truth to

'kill them with kindness'. In this case, ignore them. Do absolutely nothing to fuel your own anger, it's pointless. You

have the choice of never, and unless you are an idiot, never means never, talking to this person again. Say and do nothing. Live a good life, tell the truth, do not speak about this person. If you feel you cannot control yourself, say only that this person has problems, but that you cannot solve them and then walk away. People provoke us to get a reaction. By providing no reaction at all, you make them crazy. They will want to know why you are not reacting...it's the best revenge, because it is no revenge at all. Get It? Music...easy Jazz, comedy, more jazz. Relax, life is too oppressing to give in to this garbage, so why are you? Drop the "friend" , move on, better people, better life. Be happy, then the jokes on them.

Husband slacking and I am SICK of it!?

When my husband and I met, he had (and still has) a dog....I love her BUT she sheds like crazy! When we moved in together, she obviously came with....yet, my husband is VERY lax on picking up after our dog....to the constant shedding of black hair to the poop outside on our lawn. He is just so laid back it drives me crazy!

NOW....my mother-in-law was remarried this past weekend, and my husband OFFERED to keep her TWO dogs for an entire week while they honeymooned....long story short...BOTH dogs shed...and bark nonstop!! We have three dogs.....three shedding canines.

My husband yet again, and as always, is watching TV, playing on the computer or napping while I clean up all the dog hair and everything that comes with dogs. I'm not a dog-hater by any means, but with teaching summer school and taking care of our 4 year old....I think my husband should STEP THE HECK UP!!

Any ideas or advice? My husband thinks I am being too "neurotic" about the dogs....UGH!!

Husband slacking and I am SICK of it!?

Same situation here! I HATE all the dog hair! The only way to get rid of it is to brush them everyday (which he will never do). Tell him either he starts brushing them and picking up the poo or the dogs are gonna stay outside or in the garage PERMANENTLY!! This problem has also made me neurotic.. even if its not I constantly think its in my food or in my mouth its so gross.. just put your foot down, that is what I had to do!

Husband slacking and I am SICK of it!?

how bout this pick up the sheads agian this time put the sheads on him hell get the point

Husband slacking and I am SICK of it!?

I am not a dog hater....but why don't you just put your husband outside with the dogs until his mother gets back. They can all take care of each other.

Husband slacking and I am SICK of it!?

I would suggest either he takes care of his dog's messes and so, or the dog goes.

As far as him accepting to take care of his mother's dogs, I'd let him know you two are in a partnership, and it takes two to okay a decision regarding what goes on in both of your home, and the next time, he had better include you in the decision making. Speak up for yourself, but do it kindly and firmly.

Husband slacking and I am SICK of it!?

Is there any point of talking about hubby slacking, hahaha.... I have one too. Trust me unless he chokes on some of that shedding he is not going to realise what you are complaining about. So make sure to add some in his dinner today! Sounds evil but will he get your point I think he will... ;)

Husband slacking and I am SICK of it!?

yeah DONT PICK UP AFTER THE DOGS ! your enabling him, just flat out dont do it. if he says something tell him its his responsibility and you just aint doint it anymore. he'll get sick of it to eventually. and if he don't change%26gt;turn the tables on him and do something similar to get his attention that irratates the hell out of him, it will get him thnking.

Just dont be mean. make your point, get a cat and let it sleep with you guys, after waking up with the cat on him...might just make him think

Husband slacking and I am SICK of it!?

If I were you, I would tell him to either keep up with the dogs or you are taking them to the SPCA. If he wants his dog bad enough, he will step up. If not, well you know what to do. After dropping his dog at the SPCA, call your mother in law and let her know that the dogs need to be picked up as soon as she steps foot into town because her baby boy isn't helping out.

Husband slacking and I am SICK of it!?

Didn't the marriage clergyman say "for better or for worse"?

Husband slacking and I am SICK of it!?

i believe dogs belong outside. kick 'em out there. yours too.

Husband slacking and I am SICK of it!?

I would go to a hotel or move back with my family until the in-law-dogs were gone.

Then I would insist that we get some counseling....your husband's behavior is a form of abuse. He's taken control of the situation and left you no recourse.

If he wouldn't go with me I would go by myself.

Husband slacking and I am SICK of it!?

gosh that sounds like a bummer with the three dogs. Tell him to at least shovel the pop up to the garbage can. That will help get rid of the fly and smell. best of luck to you.......

Husband slacking and I am SICK of it!?

No, you're not being neurotic. It sounds like your husband doesn't respect you or your feelings. Did he ask you before he offered kennel services to his mother? I'm guessing not. My husband did something similar, and after seeing the error of his ways, he boarded the dogs. We were seeing a marriage therapist at the time, and she helped resolve that situation.

Try sitting down and talking with your husband about how frustrated and overworked you feel. Have in mind what your desired outcome is -- that he vacuums once a week, picks up the dog poop twice a week, etc. He needs to take your feelings into account, not dismiss them as neuroses. If he values you, he needs to show it. A marriage counselor may help, too.

The dog isn't to blame in all this, so ignore the posts that say to lock the dog outside or in the garage. That's just cruel.

Neglect is the most common type of abuse. Your husband needs to recognize that his neglect of you, your child, and the dog is selfish, irresponsible, and abusive.

Husband slacking and I am SICK of it!?

get a squirt bottle and fill with water and spray them when they bark.of course it wont hurt them and it makes them stop.get a gate and keep the dog(s) out of the front room, again use the water bottle if they bark because of it or jump on it.tell your husband that you are tired of the hair and until he can help keep things clean , then they stay in the other room.

Husband slacking and I am SICK of it!?

I'm with him.

Get over it.

Husband slacking and I am SICK of it!?

he doesn't think that the problem is that bad as he doesn't see it. What he is paying attention to is the area that you have already cleaned. My advice? Don't clean it up for a few days. Particularly where he sits while playing his games. Maybe then he will realize just what it is that you go through to keep his and mama's dogs. If you are the one that picks it up in the yard, why not place it in a bag and leave it on hubby's car hood? Maybe if he has to deal with it anyway, he may come closer to picking up after his animal? Just my opinions.

Husband slacking and I am SICK of it!?

Sit him down %26amp; tell him you love him %26amp; the dog. What you dont appreciate is that he expects you to lower your standards of cleanliness to accept the canine mess %26amp; that if he wants his dog %26amp; keep you happy too he needs to pitch in %26amp; help. Choose poop scoop days between the two of you, or decide which doggie duties you are each comfortable with %26amp; stick to it. There has to be give %26amp; take. If he still resist, scoop the poop into his side of the bed %26amp; plan on sleeping on he couch till he cleans it up!!

Husband slacking and I am SICK of it!?

I am a dog lover and have had my share of pets. Although I don't currently own one, I have had my share of sheding pets. He should have consulted you before considering taking in his mother's pets but may have thought it was ok since you care for his dog so well (ha, ha). Anyway, I would suggest keeping the visiting dogs outside. Let the yard and poop cleaning be your husband's job. You can minimize sheding on your dog by brushing him/her every day. Do this outside after the morning walk it will calm both you and the pet. You will also find less doggie hair in the house.

You could also have your dog "mysteriously disappear" but that will likely cause more problems than it is worth :)

Good luck

Husband slacking and I am SICK of it!?

save up an entire weeks worth of dog hair and dump it on the driver seat of his car. when he confronts you, you simply tell him that every time you have to pick up the hair, that you're gonna dump it on his stuff since he doesn't seem to mind it. saying this, i'm assuming you've already told him numerous times...so this would be a last resort, that is, if you've got the balls.

Husband slacking and I am SICK of it!?

I know what you mean about living with someone, and something they do or DONT do drives you NUTS and theyre totally fine with it! I adore dogs, however...lucky for me I picked a breed that doesnt shed, simply because I also cant STAND the dog hair. I know someone suggested that you simply dont clean up after the dog, but to be frank if it doesnt bother him now, than he probably wont clean up after the dog either! It seems to me that you should of course say something, address the problem Tell him you really needed to be consulted before inviting two more dogs into the house when he isnt even taking the responsibity for one. If he doesnt get the point (and im sure he wont...) then maybe you can stop doing something else that he appreciates. For example, if you cook him dinner at night, simply don't. Cook for your son and tell your hubby if hes hungry he can take care of it. If dirty dishes drive him crazy and you clean them, stop. Tell him to do it himself...something along those lines. If you are now exhibiting a behavior that annoys him, maybe he will start to see things from your perspective. If all else fails..........go to home depot this weekend and build a nice big dog house for the two of them in the backyard. Im sure theyll be very happy together....lol, GOOD LUCK!

The story of Labradoodles could there have been some sucess if it was handled differently?

Determined to source the most suitable guide-dog for a client, I unwittingly turned the canine world upside down

While working with the Royal Guide Dog Association of Australia as its puppy-breeding manager in the early 鈥?0s, I received a request from Hawaii. A vision-impaired woman there, whose husband was allergic to dog hair, had written to our centre in the hope that we might have an allergy-free guide-dog.

鈥淧iece of cake,鈥?I thought. The standard poodle, a trainable working dog, was probably the most suitable breed, with its tightly curled coat. Although our centre bred and used labradors, I didn鈥檛 anticipate any difficulties finding a suitable poodle.

It turned out I was wrong: after rejecting countless poodles with various problems, some two years and 33 disappointing trials later, I still hadn鈥檛 found an appropriate dog for the job.

In desperation, I decided to cross a standard poodle with one of our best-producing labradors.

The mating was successful, but it produced only three pups. We sent coat and saliva samples of each pup to the Hawaiian couple, and the husband found one sample allergy-free. At last we were getting somewhere, but a big job lay ahead. The pup had to grow up and prove suitable for guiding work; and then it had to be compatible with the visually impaired client. We had a long way to go.

With a three to six-month waiting list for people wishing to foster our pups, I was sure we鈥檇 have no problem placing our three new crossbred pups with a family. But again I was wrong: it seemed no-one wanted a crossbred puppy; everyone on the waiting list preferred to wait for a purebred. And time was running out 鈥?the pups needed to be placed in homes and socialised; otherwise they would not become guide-dogs.

By eight weeks of age, the puppies still hadn鈥檛 found homes. Frustrated and annoyed with the response to the trio of crossbreeds I had carefully reared, I decided to stop mentioning the word crossbreed and introduced the term labradoodle instead to describe my new allergy-free guide-dog pups.

It worked 鈥?during the weeks that followed, our switchboard was inundated with calls from other guide-dog centres, vision-impaired people and people allergic to dog hair who wanted to know more about this 鈥渨onder dog鈥? My three pups may have been mongrels at heart 鈥?but the furore did not abate.

It was 1989 and the publicity surrounding the new designer dogs went national and then international. A new world opened for countless people who had once thought they could never enjoy the delight of a pet pooch.

With this kind of response, I knew we were on to a winner, and I took the decision to breed more of the labrador-poodle crosses. So I contacted the then Kennel Control Councilof Australia, hoping to find the names of reputable breeders who were breeding standard problem-free poodles.

鈥淚f you use any registered dog for your programme, that breeder will be struck off the register and never be allowed to show or register their dogs again,鈥?the council鈥檚 spokesperson warned. Nor did he budge when I explained that the dogs were being bred to help vision-impaired people.

The breeders themselves were split: many did subsequentely threaten me or propose litigation if I used their progeny in my breeding programme, while others offered their services free to the guide-dog centre.

While all this was happening, I continued training Sultan, the original non-allergenic pup. He eventually went to Hawaii, amid intense media coverage, where as the world鈥檚 first labradoodle he bonded beautifully with his new owner and her allergic husband.

Interest in the labradoodle continued to escalate and inquiries poured in from all over the world from people wishing to either purchase or breed the dogs. But

I quickly realised that I鈥檇 opened a Pandora鈥檚 box when our next litter of ten labradoodles produced only three allergy-free pups.

I began to worry, too, about backyard breeders producing supposedly 鈥渁llergy-free鈥?dogs for profit. Already, one man claimed to be the first to breed a poodle- Rottweiler cross!

Nothing, however, could stop the mania that followed. New breeds began to flood the market: groodles, spoodles, caboodles and snoodles. Were breeders bothering to check their sires and bitches for heredity faults, or were they simply caught up in delivering to hungry customers the next status symbol? We鈥檒l never know for sure.

Today I am internationally credited as the first person to breed the labradoodle, but I wonder, in my retirement, whether we bred a designer dog 鈥?or a disaster!

The story of Labradoodles could there have been some sucess if it was handled differently?

I think his intentions were Honorable. He was looking for a "New" breed of dog to be used by people who had special needs not only with wanting a service dog but one that would also meet the criteria for those people who had sever allergies to dander.

It wasn't until years of trying and with very limited success that he declared this project ended and a failure. Unfortunately with all the media hype and publicity surround this even he inadvisedly I feel is the father to the Doodle craze we have today. The big difference is that he did realize that to produce this "New" breed would be almost impossible to perfect but by that time all the damage had been done. Any person from that point on saw an opening to not only breed these dogs but to also feel free to go beyond his original intent and do mixes of their own and declare them Allergy free dogs.

I feel this is what we are experiencing today with the "Designer" crazy we have now!

People went nuts and started breeding the poodles with just about anything and declared them allergy free! We know have to deal with what was once an experment to help peopleto a delima of what will they breed with what next and what false claims will be made now!

He open a pandora's box and now we are dealing with it!

The story of Labradoodles could there have been some sucess if it was handled differently?

Honestly he could have called them anything and the result would have been the same! We still would have all the "Designer" breeds!

I wish I could share with Dog Daze her answer was great!

Thanks! :) Report It

The story of Labradoodles could there have been some sucess if it was handled differently?

ok so you are not the so-called founder of the "muts"?? ij hope not, yes the storie would have ended diff if the husband just got allergy med- please?? poodle from good stock no good enough for the job bull #### wrong trainer training the poodle! so here it stated the 2 breeds were breed for one lady whos hubby was allergic?? gat a damm cane! look what happened! i'm mad sorry

The story of Labradoodles could there have been some sucess if it was handled differently?

i think their just like any other mutt.

The story of Labradoodles could there have been some sucess if it was handled differently?

My question would be this: It seems that the majority of crosses started with "doodles"- People who wanted a/n (insert breed here) that didn't shed. Labradoodles are, in my opinion, an attempt to reinvent the wheel. When you breed a lab and a poodle, you either get a dog that looks lab, poodle, or more resembles a portuguese water dog, or a curly coated retriever. These breeds already exist. Labs and poodles already have such similar personalities, I don't see the need to cross them, you either want a lab or you want a poodle.

Now, it's just become such an "in" thing to see what kind of name you can come up with for something- if the name is "cute" people will buy it!

Go to any poodle rescue site and look at the number of "doodles" looking for new homes. It's disgusting!

ADD: We have 2 dogs here that we groom that are service standard poodles. We also own 4 standard poodles. The breeder of one of our poodles has placed numerous dogs in service homes. So, don't tell me they aren't good enough. The father of one of mine was an S%26amp;R dog before nearly being killed by a rare tick borne disease. Another friend has one that is not only a cadaver dog, but is used to find ancient indian burial sites.

The story of Labradoodles could there have been some sucess if it was handled differently?

The origins of the labdoodle were good intentioned for therapy dogs, nice idea, but it didn't work out and they abandoned the breeding of this mix completely. Why continue what didn't work out? And there are protocols that are followed for breeding new breeds, but as it didn't work well they didn't purse it. Now we have people breeding them just for profit. When you breed something and the only motive is money I don't know how your intentions could possibly be called good. And maybe it's just me, but if these 'breeders' ever do finally make an honest attempt to actually come up with a new breed, I sure as hell hope they give it a respectable name, not something that sounds so Disney character, but for a mixed breed mutt I guess the name fits... Nothing would make breeding mixed breeds for profit better. It doesn't matter what you call them, the sad part is some people actually think they're a 'breed'

I have nothing against mutts. I volunteer in a shelter and even have one here myself. But mutts really need to be gotten from shelters or rescues, not line some BYB's or PM's pocket to make their truck payment!

*** Ok yes it's a good possibility the name is what started it off. A Lab/Poodle mix sounds less legitimate to some people's ears than Labdoodle. Now we have a name! I don't even think I've been on YA a whole month yet and I've already read enough to know that people actually think it's a legitimate breed. No wonder they get so mad when you say mixed breed or mutt. Jeez can't you see the name? It's a breed! (not). Before all this started you could barely give a Poodle mix away, now they're big bucks

The story of Labradoodles could there have been some sucess if it was handled differently?

This story with it's "excuse" used to justify why a mix was being delibrately bred is exactly that a flimsy excuse. There was no need and is still no need to "try" to breed a Guide/Service dog that is considered "low allergen" Why??? becasue there are already dog breeds that meet those requirements..breeds that have been well established for many, many years...Standard Poodles, Portugese Water Dogs, Irish Water Spaniels,Curly Coated Retreivers, etc.

Also it is incredibly ridiculous to breed a low shedding breed to a high shedding double coated breed to try to get a low allergen , low shedding dog.

The story of Labradoodles could there have been some sucess if it was handled differently?

I don't think the name has anything to do with it...its the concept of crossing two breeds to make a mutt and passing it off as a breed that is PREDICTABLE that is the issue. I know of NO two labradoodles that are the same in coat type, temperment, etc....and I think it is a complete scam to pass them off as hypoallergenic, friendly, whatever.

The story of Labradoodles could there have been some sucess if it was handled differently?

Whatever the intention, it was the wrong decision to deliberately cross 2 breeds. We as a society can accept "mutts" that are accidentally bred, but the intentional cross breeding is what sets the hackles on edge.

I have met three influencial people in my dreams, all of them were white and had dark brown hair?

Does this mean anything?

The first one was a girl at a college, she was explaining something to me

The second one was an employer, he gave me a black wallet with my name engraved in it

The last one was a doctor, who didn't look like one, he saved me from a dog that was attacking my hand.

Does this mean anything about white people who are dark haired?

I have met three influencial people in my dreams, all of them were white and had dark brown hair?

Sounds like a Guardian Angel in 3 forms

I have met three influencial people in my dreams, all of them were white and had dark brown hair?

I can see that you are really deep into that metaphysics.

It means whatever you will believe it means by laws of our subconscious mind, that's why you need to choose your influences well.

I think that you have very vivid imagination and you should use it for benefit either yours, or of other people. If you want to know what will happen next day.. well your dream may only make you feel a certain way and therefore motivate you, but it cannot do anything beyond it.

I have met three influencial people in my dreams, all of them were white and had dark brown hair?

drams dont mean much, at they just reflect thigns that have been on your ind for some reason. This coudl be any reason from hearing a name on TV to worrying about your jour job or health etc. So dont take much stock in the dreams there is no real point or predictive power to them.

I have met three influencial people in my dreams, all of them were white and had dark brown hair?

no, but to find a deeper meaning you can try to contact your spirit guides... look it up on the web its free.

you maybe dreaming about yourself or maybe you in a previous life.

I have met three influencial people in my dreams, all of them were white and had dark brown hair?

Were all good!

I have met three influencial people in my dreams, all of them were white and had dark brown hair?

you may be attracted to dark hair whites.

Can dogs' skin on their belly tan from exposure to the sun?

I know this might seem like a silly question, but I have a small 7-lb black dog with little hair on his belly and even less hair in his "private" area. His skin there is usually light colored, but it's been brown lately, almost dirty looking. The last 2 weekends he has been outside basking in the sun on his back and side, so I didn't know if maybe the sun actually tanned him like it would a human. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Can dogs' skin on their belly tan from exposure to the sun?

Yes they can as as you mention the skin gets darker, my chinese crested is kept in PJ's as it is still cool here he unprotected butt and face is nearly black with tan lines along the butt from the end of his PJ's and the rest of his skin is grey, you can use human sunscreen if he is going to be spending a lot of time in the sun another good idea is to apply chapstick with sunscreen on his nose as well

Can dogs' skin on their belly tan from exposure to the sun?

I know dogs can be affected by the sun (burns, cancers etc.) so tanning is plausible, perhaps most dogs just don't lie on their backs often enough to get as tan as your guy! =)

Can dogs' skin on their belly tan from exposure to the sun?

i THiNK THEY CAN GET SUN BURNED.........

BUT N0T SURE.......

Can dogs' skin on their belly tan from exposure to the sun?

It can not only tan, they can sunburn so if he has the habit of laying on his back in the sun, you might want to add some sun screen.

On the other hand, try to give it a wash, maybe it is only dirt.

Can dogs' skin on their belly tan from exposure to the sun?

No, but they can get sunburn.

Can dogs' skin on their belly tan from exposure to the sun?

Because dogs can get sunburns, this is very possible. When a human gets a sunburn, after a while, it turns into a tan. If you didn't see any redness in that area before you noticed the tanish color, I'd say he is just dirty or has some skin thing going on. This might be a good thing to ask your vet.

Hope this helps!!

Can dogs' skin on their belly tan from exposure to the sun?

Yes it can be tanning which could also have been from burning. If this is a habit of his a sun screen meant for infants is a good choice as it is less likely to cause a reaction to the skin, make sure it's well rubbed in though as you don't want him licking and becoming ill !

Info on Newfoundland's Dogs - Looking to get one.?

Ok, I have been doing a LOT of research on dog breeds and what will be the best large dog breed for me and my young family. My wife has talked me into maybe getting a Newfi, and I have done as much research as you can on the breed browsing the internet. My questions to you all is, how good is this breed in general with Young children. I have a 6 month old, and I plan on getting a dog when he is about year to a year and a half. I understand the basics about the dog LOTS of hair, high chance of slobber, vet bills so on an so fourth. I read they are good with children but I want to know specifics. Please let me know! Thank you all so much.

Newfs tend to be amazingly good with kids, as long as the kids are good to the dog.

I, too, hope to reach Torbay, or GotNewfs, as she(?) loves to talk about the drool and the hair... and the dog underneath all of it. :)

They're typically great dogs, but personally, I'd wait until the kids are older. Newfoundlands are huge, and while the dog would be large enough to be safe from the kids, such a small child could easily get knocked over by a well-intentioned dog.

Info on Newfoundland's Dogs - Looking to get one.?

As far as not having a mean bone in their entire body...they are good with kids. However, they are HUGE and mature SLOWLY...both mentally and physically. They are quite unaware of their size and tend to knock kids over a lot. They will take food from kids just like any other dog, and have no problem doing so.

The problem with a toddler, is that people then tend to make the Newf spend more and more time away from the family due to the dog knocking the kid over. Pretty much each time the dog gets near the toddler, it knocks it over. The kid screams and then starts to scream every time the dog gets near it. Some people cannot deal with that and banish the dog or just get rid of it.

A Newf is really not mentally mature until it is 3-4. They can still act VERY much like a puppy for that time. People tend to think of Newfs as lumps....which they are a lot of the time, but when there is activity, they can be very active. It can be very hard to raise a toddler and an adolescent giant breed at the same time.

Then there are the people who PANIC when the dog slobbers all over the kids cracker and then the kid eats it before you can take it away. Some parents can tolerate it, but then there are the grandparents that FREAK!!!

Newfs are great dogs, and would never hurt anything!!! God knows, I have raised three kids while having at least two Newfs at all times. There have been a LOT of bumps and bruises from the dogs. My youngest was 8 months and sitting in one of those exersaucer things when the one Newf, then 11 months, saw a bird at the window and tore through the kitchen sending the child and saucer FLYING!!!! Stitches were needed in the forehead of said child, and the saucer was broken. Just an accident, but with the size of the dog, it ended up a little worse than most.

And if you plan to take your Newf and child to the lake to swim together....forget it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not one Newf I have ever had would let my kids into the water!!! They ALWAYS try to herd them out, or grab their arms and haul them out!!!!!!! I am assured that the kids would be saved if drowning, but fun swimming is quite a chore!!!!

The cart or sled rides the dogs give the kids are great though!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think with proper understanding and training, Newfs and kids go together like PB andJ!!!!

Dogs? any that wont mess with your allergies?

The Basinji is a good breed for those people who suffer from allergies. They are also great for those families with small children and newborns because they are not a breed that barks alot. Infact although they can make some certian sounds Basinjis cannot bark. If I didnt have pit bulls I would consider a basinji myself as I am know my neighbors are not always overly found of my dogs when they start barking at 1:00 in the morning

Dogs? any that wont mess with your allergies?

My father %26amp; brother have really really bad asthma as well as tons of allergies - but my dad has had 2 Lhasa Apso's and both he %26amp; my bro had no reactions to it.. but my dad did keep him very clean (took him to a groomer once a month - and kept their hair pretty short, with just a long tail, ears n feet - they were both really cute!

So my guinea pig got hurt and now where the scab was he is growing white hair, not his normal brown?

the scab was about the size of a quarter and peanut shaped if that helps at all. we have no idea where it came from, but we belive our neibors dog has something to do with it.

So my guinea pig got hurt and now where the scab was he is growing white hair, not his normal brown?

The wound has probably formed a scar and when the hair grows back . Its nothing to be concerned about.

So my guinea pig got hurt and now where the scab was he is growing white hair, not his normal brown?

hmm. i know that when my bro had to shave his cats light gray hair on his back due to fleas-- it grew back a dark gray.

So my guinea pig got hurt and now where the scab was he is growing white hair, not his normal brown?

This isn't a big deal, as the hair grows longer it may change back to brown, and if it doesn't it means the hair folicle was damaged.

Carpet sweepers...do you have one? I'm wondering how well they work on pet hair?

I'm tired of digging out the vacuum cleaner to do the area rug. It gets covered in dog fur (golden retriever) so fast and also cat fur. Do those carpet sweepers (not electric) work on this type of stuff? I want to know before I buy one.

Carpet sweepers...do you have one? I'm wondering how well they work on pet hair?

I have a very old well made Bissel ( its make out of wood) and a newer carpet sweeper. Neither work well on pet hair. Actually they don't work well at all. They cant 'pull' the hair (and dirt) up. If you want to go over a small area a dozen times i suppose the hair will mostly come up, I'm not that patient. And I think the lint rollers cost to much to use each day. We have many pets, so i decided that everyone would have to just get used to the vacuum being out. It sits just behind a large house plant. Hope this helps.

Carpet sweepers...do you have one? I'm wondering how well they work on pet hair?

Scotchbright has a roller that you can buy that has a sticky roll kind of like a lint roller. This works pretty well for pet hair on carpets. I clean houses and one of my ladies has one. On hardwood floors I use a swiffer dry, and spray a dusting spray on the cleaning cloth and that works wonderfully at pulling pet hair off of hardwood floors.

Carpet sweepers...do you have one? I'm wondering how well they work on pet hair?

I had one, and they don't do much. I just use the vacuum cleaner.

Carpet sweepers...do you have one? I'm wondering how well they work on pet hair?

well best way to remove pet hair from the carpet is big brush, (not toothbrush) brush which they use in scrubbing tile or floor. this has a very good affect, brush on to the carpet and all the hair will be collected, you can use it also in the sofas or clothing.

Carpet sweepers...do you have one? I'm wondering how well they work on pet hair?

The carpet sweeper will not pick up the animal hair unfortuantely. In my experience it will onyl pick up dust, not much else. Save your money, and just use a normal vacuum. Happy cleaning!

Need advice for a problem pet?

Number 1, i am not an animal lover or an animal hater for either cats or dogs. I have 3 cats (2 outside, 1 inside) and 1 dog. I have a history of a previous medium sized house dog for 15 years, when it passed away of old age, i was happy to have my life back, no more cleaning up messes, ruined flooring/carpet, scratched furniture doors, chewed up things, digging, messy yard, urine stained snow, messy car, and no more hair. I was dog free for 3 years. Then, last spring, my spouse decided to get a german shepard puppy, didnt even ask my opinion. I absolutely cannot stand this dog. It is hyper. It has to sleep in a kennel in our room or would tear the house down. It is in the kennel at least 8 hours during the day because we both work. When out of the cage, it turns in circles to the point of distraction, snagging up the carpet as it goes, it has damaged my couch, chair, outside plants in the ground, rips them right up, shredded brooms, cardboard boxes (UPS delivery + its contents left on the porch), basically total piarrhana dog wants to eat everything, also eats feces (its own %26amp; the litter box treats) it wants to maul and jump all over you all the time, needless to say it is now almost a year old and is about 5 ft tall when it stands on its back legs, it will snap at your face when it jumps, stepping on its back foot doesnt work, down, no, etc commands dont work, it is ruining my new back door with the jumping on the door to be let back in, it wants to maul your arms all the time and bite, i have not taken a nap on my couch for almost a year for fear of being bitten in the face if doze off, i cant even sit on my couch to watch TV without being mauled. My child disappears to the bedroom and only comes out to eat dinner. Dinner is a joke it runs around the table begging and pretty much can sit and reach anything at the table to pull it down, kitchen countertops too, it doesnt even have to get on its back legs to reach anything to get it off the countertops. it chases and mauls the cat so much, the cat is probably ready for a nervous breakdown (declawed). the dog is fed and watered properly, has plenty of doggie things to chew, nylabones, pigears, giant rawhide bones, a leather shoe that is "its" property. the dog has been to the vet, is fixed, shots etc and all that is taken care of. it has a electric fence in the yard and knows the perimeters, that was the only thing it learned easily, only went over that fence once. I am in the process of moving to a new home, that i have to remodel, we are going to be putting in thousands of dollars into this home. i absolutely do not want this dog in my house, or for that matter, outside ruining my yard either. how can i convince my spouse to get rid of this dog, give it away, etc. we are not home enough to give it the attention it needs, no time for those recommended long walks and exercise, weekends in the summer are not free, etc. this dog absolutely does not fit our lifestyle and it was a huge investment ($600 dog + $300 fence/collar + vet bill, food, etc) that we cant get back, also feeling guilty that this dog has "bonded" if you want to call that myself and child are terrorized by this dog and neither one of us can absolutely stand this animal, small dog would have been more tolerable, but this large dog (he wanted it for to detour trespassers) is just inexcusable, but also feeling guilty that dogs are pack animals, and this "pack" is sometimes a 12+ hours working family. Extremely hard to convince the spouse that they are wrong etc. i think that the spouse actually would rather be without this dog. Everyone (family/friends etc) that has heard the situation or knows the dog, says to get rid of it. what do i do short of getting a divorce, which i have threatened. i will be fair in saying that the cats, i would be happy to see them go too, tired of cat hair, litter boxes %26amp; coughing up furballs. Any advice?

Need advice for a problem pet?

It is all about management. First of all, GS's are very active dogs. They are working dogs. They need to be stimulated and worked. Your dogs needs to be active. Take him to the dog park. Take him for walks, etc. He needs to be active. This breed is known for needing an active lifestyle.

Basic obedience classes will help tremendously with getting him to settle down. He needs positive reinforcement training. That will not only settle him down for your sake, but give him something to do. Work so to speak.

I understand your frustration, but it truly is all about mgmt.

Check in your local area. PetsMart, PetCo, in-home obedience trainers or even some community colleges offer basic obedience classes for their community.

Good Luck!

Need advice for a problem pet?

buddy you dont need this pet, most of the dogs problem is anxiety, yeah they get it too. you need to come to a compremize and tell your wife you cant live like this because your miserable

Need advice for a problem pet?

A unchained dog with the gate left open just after the spouse leaves for work will allow that poor puppy to find a good home where it is appreciated by the child who finds it. Just remember to remove the collar and toss it in the yard.

Need advice for a problem pet?

Well, I'm not familiar with that breed, but from personal experience I know that you do have to set strict rules(especially for puppies). If your spouse wants a dog, perhaps you should consider purchasing a smaller breed? I have a Boston Terrier and she's a very small dog (at 5 yrs), and knows what and what not to do. She's not perfect, in fact, some of what you described I have experienced and still experience with her first hand. I think the size of the dog is what is causing the most problems, as you're physically unable to control it. I would definitely consider giving the dog away, and possibly purchasing a much smaller, less hostile breed.

Give It To Some That Wants Then.

Need advice for a problem pet?

You might want to take out adds in the news paper to see if maybe you can find a home for it. Offer it for free and count the lost money as a learning experance.

Need advice for a problem pet?

From listening to your story, getting rid of the dog would easily solve your problem. But the dog's problem remains. If your spouse really want to keep it, there are several ways to solve this problem.

I have a german shepard and it was very hyperactive as well. I have to go to school for most of the day, and my roommate's gotta work so yes it's stuck in the kennel for most of the time.

A solution would be to give the dog a good workout everyday. Take the dog for a jog after you get back from work, bring it to a leash-free dog park, let it run! let it tire himself. This only takes an hour or a little more of your time, saves u from the torn furnitures and other problems because usually they get too tired to do any mischief after a good work out.

As for the dog's attitude problem, german shepards are known to be very obedient. Maybe try invest a little and take it to a good discipline training school. It is a little over 1 year old so its still young and capable of learning. The training will teach it to be obedient and you'll get yourself a good guard dog.

Anyways, dogs are pact animals and when they are left alone they get stressed, they WILL chew. It is their nature. If your family does not have the time to give it the attention it needed, giving it away to a family that could take care of it would be better both for you, your family, and the dog itself.

here's my 3 cents. hope it helps. =)

You sound like a Goldfish person, then again i wouldnt wish this hate that im hearing on any goldfish either.

You should have thought about the consequences before allowing someone in your home to purchase him. Sounds like that you have no proper rule over this dog, which means its your fault, not the poors dogs. Since you decided to allow him to get the dog knowing that you both couldnt afford it and manage it then you need to own up to your responsibility and get it into obedience classes like it deserves. It doesnt sound like a problem dog, it sounds like a problem owner. Hopefully you will either own up your own responsibility like adults are supposed to or you will get the poor dog a new home. I guess since the cats shed you should get rid of them too, your ridiculous. Give those animals the life they deserve by giving them to a good family and not your unloving, unbalanced home.

Need advice for a problem pet?

The relationship with your spouse is the real problem and the pets are a symptom. Everyone in your home is suffering, including your child. Please get help from a pastor, counselor etc. Someone your spouse respects.

It is fine not to want the pets, especially when the family does not care for them properly. If your family wishes to keep them, they must feed, clean and exercise them daily. If not, the animals deserve better homes.

Your child deserves parents who can work out their problems and provide a healthy home. Please get some help for yourself and family.

Need advice for a problem pet?

you need to get rid of it or get a dog trainer to help with all those problem. Also the dog trainer will help you be the boss instead of the dog.

Need advice for a problem pet?

from reading that .. the dog is bored and full of energy .. being caged more than 4 hours a day is terrible .. this is an aniaml that needs 45 minutes of fast paced walking a day .. if you can commit to getting rid of some of his energy that would be a much better dog

Need advice for a problem pet?

You could call your local pet supplies until you find the one that will recommend a good trainer in your area. These dogs CAN ABSOLUTELY be turned around. The dog on Frazier was dumped 3 times, before the trainer found him. An unruly dog as you have described are usually the very smartest. He has learned to out-smart you and get his way. A good out-of-home trainer will charge you $500 per month, and may take 2 months. But, look at the savings! to you, your home, your child, your marriage, your life. I wish I was in your area. I would take on the challenge.

Need advice for a problem pet?

the dogs problem was caused by u and now u want to get rid of it..u cage it up 8 hours a day how would u act if that happened ud be so happy to just be out of that damn cage...its sad that ur gonna get rid of a beautiful creature cause u dont like it and couldnt take the time to properly train him....it just makes me sad..and oh bye the way i am an animal lover.....and it sounds like u are a dog hater......

Need advice for a problem pet?

I am sad to say i was shocked when i read this. Caging an animal for 8 hours a day is absolutely inexcusable!

this is why he is acting this way - they NEED to go on walks. i know it is hard but put yourself in the animal's *paws* - being locked up, no attention, no affection - it is awful. Dogs do not understand speech - only tones of voice %26amp; body language. You did not put your child in the crib all day with a bottle %26amp; expect it to raise itself did you? It is the same with a dog, it needs human interaction, training (how else will it know what to do or not do?), affection, exercise, etc.

If you do not want to INVEST anymore money, by getting yourself trained (people are trained on how to communicate wit dogs, not dogs trained on how to read our minds) - try a rescue to give the doggy a good home where it would be appreciLUVED.

Need advice for a problem pet?

please give the dog away

you need to never get a pat again. I breed and trained gsd and it is not the dog it is you and your selfish lifesytle/husband.

god that story makes me sick. tell your husband if he wants to have a dog then he needs to be with someone who is loving/gentle and not so selfish..

that poor dog has been put into hell and I don't think he is bounded with you if he was he wouldn't be acting like he wants to be away from u so much.

if the people around a dog act crazy yelling/hating them sooo much then you get a crazy dog and the dog deserves better would you like to be in a home where you were hated?? I bet you don't even like this response..

it's not fun being hated is it???

Need advice for a problem pet?

GSD's need LOTS of attention and training. They need a "job" to be happy. This dog is SEVERELY lacking in all areas.

Your family does NOT have the time for this dog or any dog for that matter.

If your WHOLE family can't dedicate more time to this dog, rehome him. There are great GSD rescue groups out there.

You and your spouse need to think what is best for the dog as well. This is one unhappy, confused pup. Eight hours a day in a kennel is no life for a dog.

Do everyone a favor and rehome him, and don't get another dog until your family has time for it.

I don't mean to sound rude, but that's the blunt end of things. I see this sort of thing all the time.

Need advice for a problem pet?

Training, training, training. It sounds like your spouse has no idea whatsoever about properly training a dog.The reason for a dog to act like this,is because it has never learned not to.It sounds like it's beyond what can be learned from a book.Your dog needs be taken to a proffesional trainer.

Dogs Preferences?

So I hate the looks of short dogs with short hair. Who agrees with me? I mean if you wanted a Paris Hilton dog than why not buy a freaken squirrel or cat? Sorry if i offend anyone but it's my opinion. I like dogs nice big n' fluffy. I had a great pyrenee and i have to say no one can say they had a better dog. He was big, fluffy, and the most sweetest dog everrr. No other dog could ever compare. And know I got a Alaskan Malamute and he's supposed to be pretty big too. Although Adorable this dog personality isn't half as sweet or nice as my old dog. But he is cuddly. And something my old dog didn't have that this new dog has is smarts and playfulness. So what are your preferences personality wise? What are your reasons? If you like a small dog then tell me why. I know that big and fluffy dogs need a lot more care, don't live as long, and give you a lot more cleaning but they're so much more lovable then those ugly dogs that might as well be rats.

Dogs Preferences?

I like all dogs, but I prefer Labs, I like big dogs, better for cuddling.

Dogs Preferences?

Smaller dogs have just entirely different personalities than bigger dogs, and some people prefer the 'macho' little dog to the 'dopey ' big dog. Some people are not physically comfortable handling 75+ lb dogs and would rather the 15 lb kind. I for one love MOST of both- the few breeds I -don't- care for is not based on size, but rather personality traits common within the breed. I have both big and little dogs, and love all dearly.

Dogs Preferences?

I agree, I prefer large dogs to the smaller "rat" dogs.

Dogs Preferences?

I love my big dogs! I have border collies and australian shepherds and they are awesome! I love their intensity to work and their drive to play.

This said, I do have a little dog, and she is JUST as intense and driven! She can do everything the big dogs do, she is just more "portable". Of course, little dogs think they are big. :-)

Dogs Preferences?

I have a mini toy french poodle, and she is the BEST dog ever. I have had her since I was 8, and I am turning 18 soon. Honestly, I dont think there is a best, because its like kids, yours is always going to be the best in your eyes, because its the one you raised, the one you love. Thats my point of view. btw, NO ONE calls my dog a RAT!!!

Dogs Preferences?

I am okay with the small dogs like corgis and JRTs, but i don't like the oversized rats.

Dogs Preferences?

I like big dogs! They are so much fun and so much more loveable than small dogs.

Dogs Preferences?

I like dogs that respond well to training and are at least moderately protective, but not mean. I've had many breeds ove the decades, and I like the working dogs best, then the terriers. Two of the best dogs I had were a Rottweiler and a Pit Bull. Neither my Pit, nor any of my Rotts ever hurt anyone! But, I had well bred dogs from conscientious breeders, and I TRAINED! I trained them for impulse control and instant obedience. That is a lot of time and energy. I didn't consider it work, because I loved doing it.

I train my grandkids now, so I am busy and I only have one dog that is much less demanding than a Rott or Pit. I have a very sweet tempered black Cane Corso. I asked the breeder for a lower energy, less protective dog, and she sold my exactly what I wanted. Stella weighs about 80-85 pounds. Everyone loves her. Except unannounced intruders!

Much to the dismay of the grandkids, I have ample time for them! I'm joking. They love me. Even as I do make them work hard and study a lot.
